Salima Hashmi
Salima Hashmi is an artist, curator, and contemporary art historian. She served as the founding Dean of the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Art and Design at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, and taught at the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, for 31 years, including four years as its Principal.
A prolific writer, Hashmi authored Unveiling the Visible: Lives and Works of Women Artists of Pakistan (2002) and co-authored Memories, Myths, Mutations: Contemporary Art of India and Pakistan (2006) with Yashodhara Dalmia. Her edited volume The Eye Still Seeks: Contemporary Art of Pakistan was published by Penguin Books, India, in 2014.
Renowned for her contributions to art education and her scholarship on South Asian art, Hashmi continues to influence the discourse on contemporary art and culture in Pakistan and beyond.
