Background: 

In continuation of the public programming initiated by the Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF) and in response to the new forming realities post C-19 pandemic, LBF is setting up a Virtual Museum: an online open source digital platform. It is a Public Art Project based on new and archival research on cultural and artistic research – a platform for artists, creative practitioners and visitors to create projects that investigate their shared cultural heritage and the legacies of creative practice that have emerged from it, with place being a significant contextual frame. New ways of experiencing and thinking about culture carved out by virtue of technological advances, will be utilized to reconnect the public with their heritage, while simultaneously allowing them to collectively create a new understanding of their current cultural landscape. The virtual museum will amplify local voices in a way its physical counterparts cannot do , as it lets local actors tell their own stories by creating digital representations to serve as emissaries of their cultural values – values that have themselves evolved over time to have multiple meanings.

The LBF Virtual Museum will have multiple components. This particular segment will reflect on the legacy and evolution of storytelling in Pakistan, and all its varying forms. The oral tradition of Dastangoi, the role of literature in imaging the identity of the nation, the development of postcolonial literature, and the cultural politics of language and its effect on literature. 

The Lahore Biennale Foundation is seeking young, local researchers/artists/historians to collect research based photo essays for the component  ‘Legacy of Storytelling and Contemporary Literature in Pakistan and the Diaspora’. This project will trace the history of Pakistani literature, its aesthetics, and symbolic repertoires with a focus on the cultural milieus that produced these literary texts. . The project investigates the role of literature in catalyzing political resistance in Pakistan, the confluence between art and literature and role of the arts in shaping the literary landscape, along with analyzing the movements and shifts in Urdu and English language literature in Pakistan

Responsibilities: 

• To collect archival material from Urdu literary journals and other such sources about Pakistan’s literary history
• To take photographs and record videos of key sites relating to cultural and literary production in Lahore
• Help curate the narrative about Pakistan’s literary history through audio-visual material 

Considerations:

• Applicants must be based in Lahore
• Applicants must exhibit an interest in Urdu literature and basic skills in photography/videography
• Applicants must have their own camera, recording equipment(s)
• Applicants must be comfortable with working in the field
• 50,000 per month for a two-month contract

لاہور بینالے فاؤنڈیش وِرچوئل میوزیم کے لیے محققین کو درخواست(تصویری مضامین) جمع کروانے کی دعوت

پس منظر:

لاہور بینالے فاؤنڈیشن (ایل بی ایف) کی طرف سے شروع کیے گئے عوامی پروگراموں کے تسلسل میں، اور کوویڈ 19 کے بعد جنم لینے والے نئے حقائق کے ردِعمل میں، ایل بی ایف ایک وِرچوئل میوزیم قائم کر رہا ہے: کھؙلے ذرائع کا ڈیجیٹل پلیٹ فارم۔ یہ ایک عوامی آرٹ پروجیکٹ ہے جس کی بنیاد ثقافتی و فنکارانہ کھوج پر مبنی دستاویزی تحقیق ہے۔ یہ پلیٹ فارم فنکاروں، تخلیقی کاروں، اور فن سے شغف رکھنے والے عام شہریوں کو ایسے منصوبے تشکیل دینے کا موقع فراہم کرے گا جو اؙن کے اپنے سانجھے ثقافتی ورثے اور اس کی کھوکھ سے جنم لینے والی تخلیقی مشق کی وراثتوں پر تحقیق کی کھوج لگآئے۔ ٹیکنالوجی کی ترقی سے تشکیل پانے والی ثقافت کے تجربے اور سوچ بچار کے نئے طریقے استعمال کیے جائیں گے تاکہ عوام اپنے ورثے سے دوبارہ جڑ سکیں اور ساتھ ہی ساتھ اجتماعی طور پر اپنے موجودہ ثقافتی منظرنامے کے متعلق نئی فہم و فراست بھی پیدا کر سکیں۔ وِرچوئل میوزیم عوامی آوازوں کی اس طرح پذیرائی کرے گا یہ دیگر آف لائن مقابل میوزیم (physical counterparts) کے بس میں نہیں، کیونکہ یہ مقامی کرداروں کو ڈیجیٹل تخلیقات کے ذریعے اپنی کہانیاں بتانے کا موقع فراہم کرتا ہے۔ ایسی تخلیقات جو اؙن کی ثقافتی اقدار کے سفیر کا کردار ادا کرتی ہیں، اور جو وقت کے ساتھ ساتھ پروان چڑھیں اور پھر کئی مفاہیم اختیار کر گئیں۔

ایل بی ایف وِرچوئل میوزیم کے کئی حصّے ہوں گے۔ یہ خاص حصّہ پاکستان میں قصہ گوئی کی وراثت، اِس کی مخلتف اقسام اور ارتقاء پر توجہ مرکوز کرے گا۔ داستان گوئی کی زبانی روایت، قوم کی تصوراتی شناخت میں ادب کا کردار، مابعد نوآبادیاتی ادب، زبان کی ثقافتی سیاست اور ادب پر اس کے اثرات۔

لاہور بینالے فاؤنڈیشن، اپنے پروجیکٹ ‘پاکستان اور بیرون ممالک مقیم پاکستانیوں میں قصّہ گوئی اور ہم عصر ادب کی ثقافت’ کے لیے تحقیق پر مبنی تصویری مضامین اکٹھا کرنے کے لیے نوجوان، مقامی محققین/ فنکاروں/ تاریخ دانوں کی تلاش میں ہے۔ یہ پروجیکٹ پاکستانی ادب، ادبی جمالیات کی تاریخ اور ادب کے علامتی ذخیرے کا سراغ لگائے گا۔ اِن ادبی نمونوں کی تخلیق کا سبب بننے والے ثقافتی حالات اِس پوری مشق کی توجہ کا محور ہوں گے۔ اِس پروجیکٹ کے ذریعے پاکستان میں سیاسی مزاحمت کو متحرک کرنے میں ادب کے کردار، فن اور ادب کے سنگم اور ادبی منظر نامے کی تشکیل میں فنونِ لطیفہ کے کردار کے ساتھ ساتھ پاکستان میں اؙردو اور انگریزی زبان کے ادب میں پیش آنے والی تحریکوں اور تبدیلیوں کا تجزیہ کیا جائے گا۔

شرائط و ضوابط:

درخواست گزاروں کا لاہور میں مقیم ہونا ضروری ہے

درخواست گزاروں کو اؙردو ادب میں دلچسپی ہو اور فوٹو گرافی/ ویڈیو گرافی کی بنیادی مہارتیں حاصل ہوں

درخواست گزاروں کے پاس اؙن کا اپنا کیمرہ، ریکارڈنگ آلات کا ہونا ضروری ہے

درخواست گزار فیلڈ میں کام کرنے کے لیے آمادہ ہوں

دو ماہ کی مدت کے معاہدے کے لیے فی ماہ پچاس ہزار روپے
