The influence heralded by historic trade with South Asian countries, as well as reliance on foreign labour during the modernisation of the Persian Gulf until the present day, has bred physical, economic, and social hybrids that have shaped cultural outcomes. My practice has been utilising fiction, food, and magical realism as tools through which alternative truths can be excavated. One strand extending from this method of research has coiled around visual investigations of socio-spatial politics inside Arabic bakeries.
